Satyam Freshers Union wants parties to air job concerns
Under the banner of Satyam Freshers Union, these students want political parties to air concerns over job losses in their manifestos. “We want political parties to incorporate our concerns in their manifestos. We will approach all parties including the Congress
, Telugu Desam, Prajarajyam, Telangana Rashtria Samithi and the Communist Party of India help us get jobs that we were offered a Satyam,” said Satyam Freshers Union convenor Varun Podaralla.
Satyam began recruitment from 2006 and offer letters were given till 2008 for the passing out batch. But no induction has happened after the software firm’s disgraced founder B Ramalinga Raju confessed to perpetrating a Rs 7,000-crore financial fraud.
“Our demand is to make fresh recruits who have been given offer letters a liability of Satyam and ensure their employment,” he said.
The company, with a head-count of around 51,000, is trimming employee costs as part of the overall mission to salvage Satyam.
Wage payments and other expenses are estimated at around Rs 650 rore every month. The Freshers Union claims they have communicated their concerns to the new management. Sources said as the company was going through a transition, the issue could be placed before the new owner of Satyam.
Satyam Fresher’s Union is an affiliate of the Radical Democratic Corporate employees Congress, an independent body that represents the concerns of employees in e- corporate sector.
