Employees cringe as Infy gets stringent
Bangalore: The job prospect of the IT sector in India has received another jolt with Infosys, one of the biggest IT firm in India, showing door to 2100 employees across the country. As the company is resorting to stringent measures against non-performers, the remaining Infy employees are a bit concerned about their job security.
"There is a worry about the job security generally. But I was not in danger zone when the ranking process was under taken by my company. Most of those who were fired were on bench while those on projects are comparatively safe," said Raghav Nagarjun (name changed), Design Engineer with Infosys.
It is believed that the Infosys had asked the employees to either resign voluntarily or get terminated. "It is only on performance basis and we don`t have to worry. But we did not receive any official communication from the management regarding this. However, this lay off is as per the rule of the company," said an Assistant Software engineer, Infosys, under the condition of anonymity.
"It is truly a company affair and I haven`t got any such information from the management. My job is secure, but asking to leave the organization on one fine day, of course, hurts everyone," said another Infy employee.
According to Infosys HR Director Mohandas Pai, people who are outplaced are those who managers and reviewers believe do not have the attitude or the capability to demonstrate any improvement if put on a personal improvement plan. "The decision is taken after review and the same process has been in place for quite some time. This is a small percentage on a base of nearly 1,0 ,000 employees," Pai was quoted as saying by express buzz.
