Colleges offering BEd course in a fix
26 Dec 2008 Ahmedabad: Colleges offering Bachelor of Education (BEd) course are in a fix. There are 70 institutes which were in the no admission`
list made by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
The colleges know that their names figure in the list. But NCTE, nearly four months after the list was issued, has not served them a notice. Going a step further, NCTE has also removed the list of these colleges from its official website, leaving the college authorities confused.
These 70 colleges had been listed in the no admission` list because of recommendations of the AU Patel BEd Committee. The panel had listed these institutes after conducting a thorough check of their documentation and other NCTE rules. It was found that these colleges were not following these rules and their documentation was also incomplete.
One of the members of the BEd Institutes` Management Association told TOI, "We are confused and worried why the notice has not been served till now. The academic year is ending and whatever process has to be completed should be done before it. Also, we can appeal against any notice within three months of it being served. We do not know what should be our next move."
